In his new book, Don’t Be a Jerk, radical writer Brad Warner offers an update of Dogen’s Shobogenzo, “a very long, very old book.” He’ll be discussing Don’t Be a Jerk at City Center on April 8; in the meantime, he explains why he thinks Dogen was a punk-rock Buddhist.
I’d like to share a brief update on Blanche. She is still living at AgeSong, after deciding not to relocate to another assisted living community in San Francisco. She has become comfortable with the surroundings at AgeSong, as well as with their staff. Read more
We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Suzuki Roshi’s widow, Mitsu ‘Okusan’ Suzuki, early Saturday January 9, 2015. The three temples rang the densho 108 times that morning, and each temple held a memorial service to honor her passing and express gratitude for her teachings and her presence in San Francisco Zen Center.
