On September 22, San Francisco Zen Center held an event for members of the Dharma Lamp Circle at Greens Restaurant. It was a beautiful evening to connect with this group who through the Dharma Lamp Circle program have left legacy gifts to SFZC that will support dharma teachings and practice for generations to come.
The evening was hosted by Abbots Rinso Ed Sattizahn, Furyu Nancy Schroeder, and Tenzen David Zimmerman. It opened with a short meditation and service that included chanting the Loving Kindness (Metta) Sutta and was followed by a reflection on the pandemic and thoughts on the path forward. There was much excitement regarding the opening of Enso Village, a Zen-inspired senior living community in Healdsburg.
The room was filled with joy, love, and laughter which felt even more special after two years of pandemic social distancing. Nature joined in the celebration as well, when all in attendance were treated to a beautiful sunset view framed by the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.
SFZC offers a special thanks to the organizers and hosts for the evening, and to the Dharma Lamp Circle members whose generosity helps sustain all that we do. Learn more about legacy giving through the Dharma Lamp Circle.
