Retreats and guest visits are cancelled until August 22.
The Tassajara staff have had a long and extensive consultation with our CAL FIRE liaisons. Basically, the fire is not moving. We have entered another cooler spell of weather with higher humidity, and the fire is not advancing toward Tassajara. Firefighters are continuing to work on containing the fire from both the Big Sur and the Arroyo Seco ends, and are hopeful they can cut it off so that it won’t get to Tassajara. Periodic spells of poor air quality are primarily due to the backburns at Big Sur, which should end later this week. We are hoping to make a decision about reopening the guest season in the next couple of days. Deep gratitude to our firefighters, and for all your continued kind wishes and prayers. It continues to warm our hearts. Deep bows from Tassajara.
