Presenting Suzuki Roshi’s Teachings

A weekend retreat at Tassajara with Sojun Mel Weitsman and Myogen Steve Stücky

July 20-22, deepen your practice in the light of Shunryu Suzuki’s vision of the Buddha Way.

“This will be our 4th presentation of Shunryu Suzuki Roshi’s teaching at Tassajara Zen Mountain Center, which he named Zenshinji, Zen Mind/Heart Monastery. There are many stories and significant anecdotes about Suzuki Roshi during that formative period when he was active here that will give you a wider feeling for this place.

“We will also present many sides of his teaching from my first hand experience as one of his close disciples and from the present Abbot Myogen Steve Stücky, whose practice and understanding is based on Suzuki Roshi’s teaching. This can be a good opportunity to deepen your understanding of this remarkable person, and a good way of participating in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of San Francisco Zen Center.” — Sojun Mel Weitsman

Remembering Mary Watson

I want to invite us to be with Mary's spirit, because she really embodied compassion. When Blanche gave her the precepts, she gave her the name, Eyes of Compassion, Nurturing Teacher, and that's what Mary was.
