There are still a few places left for this year’s “Evening at the Asian” Member Event. If you are a member at the Dharma Mountain, Dharma Lamp, Dharma Pillar, and Friend of . . . City Center/Green Gulch/Tassajara level join us for an evening of Buddhist art at the Asian Art Museum.
June 28 & August 30, 6-8pm
The evening is hosted by docent and former SFZC Board member Jane Norbeck and SFZC Abbesses Kiku Christina Lehnherr and Eijun Linda Ruth Cutts.
We would like to thank SF Zen Center resident priest Valorie Beer (pictured here with Jane Norbeck) who cohosted the event last year. And a big “thank you” to Jane Norbeck who has led us in this wonderful event for four years now.
The evening begins with dinner in Cafe Asia – located in the museum – and is followed by an hour-long tour of the galleries. The group explores the development of Buddhism as reflected in the art of India, Southeast Asia, Tibet, China, Korea and Japan. The tour concludes at the museum’s tea house, and the group returns to a seminar room for a short discussion session with Jane and one of our Abbesses about the relationship of art to Buddhist practice.
Fee: $10 museum admission, plus dinner ($16)
Space is limited to 15 Dharma Mountain, Dharma Lamp, Dharma Pillar, and “Friend of …” members plus a guest so sign up early. This is a unique and wonderful evening. Hope you can make it.
