Raising a Bell Tower: A Message from Arlene Lueck

Dear Friends,

For those of you who have written, called and otherwise reached out, thank you so much for your kindness and your expressions of support and love of Daigan.

Daigan Lueck

Daigan Lueck

For many years both at Tassajara and Green Gulch, Daigan was devoted to teaching the students how to wake up the bells. He was one of the best instructors of the doan ryo. He had a great love and respect for the sounds of the zendo.

Many people have been asking via Facebook, email, telephone and cards, “What can I do?”

If you love the obonsho bell, which has hung outside the zendo at Green Dragon Temple for almost 40 years, please consider making a donation to the new bell tower in Daigan’s memory.  He cared deeply about making sure the obonsho bell was installed in a proper location.

The obonsho will call people to the Green Gulch zendo for Daigan’s funeral on Sunday June 7 at 3:45 pm (ceremony begins at 4 pm; reception to follow). You are warmly invited.

Bowing,
Arlene Lueck
